Oh, Dorothy...

I've beer reading the 'Wizard of OZ' (the original version) chapter by chapter to the girls as a bed-time story. They are so into it. They've never seen the movie or heard the story... so it's like discovering America to them. Pleasure to watch them get all exited over what's next:)
The gouache painting is of Dorothy... the way I see her. I did go a bit 'Hollywood' on the shoes and made them ruby (even tho they are silver in the story)... Boy, she really makes me laugh... with her good girl - kind and responsible personality.

  2. I remember being quite obsessed with the Wizard of Oz as a child (being from kansas myself). If you really want them to discover America, try the Little House series. My mom read those to me (starting when I was about 5 or 6)...great for adventurous young girls!

  8. I love your work and wish it came in fabric. What cute skirts and tops one could make from your designs. And of course we can't forget quilting. As a quilter I find it difficult to find interesting pieces - mostly we have floras and geometric pieces. One of my favorite fabric designer/maufactures is Michael Miller fabrics. This company's designers do work something similar to yours.
