a few pictures from Surtex . . .

Surtex was... as it always is... a blur... Gone in a flash. It's a few days during which I turn into an extravert and meet a lot of wonderful people. This year didn't disappoint. I've been home for almost a week... but I still feel like walking downstairs to grab a taxi to Javits Ceter. Anyway... the introverted creative life goes on. Here are a few pictures from the show:).
Anais (my youngest daughter) came with me. Standing in front of Lilla Rogers Studio banner that was placed right at the entrance to the show.

Prolonging the Magic . . .

It's been a busy and wonderful summer... and I wish it wasn't ending. These photographs (taken in the end of August) capture my warm feeling about the sunny, green, long summer days.

sweet little trip to Toronto . .

First stop - TORONTO zoo. I watched my girls watching the animals. The animals were not looking very happy... as it was a hot day and they were, well...living in the zoo. I've made up a whole other 'imaginary' zoo inside my head while we were there. Mine had the Yetis:).
Then we went to AGO to see Picasso exhibit. I loved it! My favourite goat sculpture was 'present' and the smell of artistic cockiness was good for my timid lungs. Couldn't take pictures of the exhibit... but AGO itself doesn't disappoint. Exit hall is like a belly of a ship. Felt swallowed by the building... in a good way:).
and... lastly I visited with Carolyn... lovely wine and conversation... and not enough of either:). Planning on another trip... so I can pick up where I left off.

odd encounters in NY . . .

Well, I have a feeling you weren't expecting this post:)... but, before I go into how Surtex went I'd like to 'show and tell' you my little encounter with Terry Richardson (the rockstar of photography) in Manhattan last Saturday. At first... I forgot my name, his name and where my tongue is located. Fortunatly, a friend who was with me asked Terry to pose for a photo. Phew, now I have this odd meeting documented and shared:).

the 'color of it all'!

I've had very little time lately for anything. Hoping I could get a few days without deadlines next week... and just paint, drink green tea and be present:) I quit coffee (again!). This time, like a good girl, I'll follow through. We have a complicated relationship, me and coffee - I love it and it thinks we should just stay friends:)
I put together a few pictures for you. Just for the 'color of it all'!
Last one is of Margo watercoloring on the deck.

Quiet September . . .

September came and brought the cool air and showers with it. The girls are back to school now. The house is quiet... working is going to get easier... now that I don't have to wear headphones all the time to drown the happy squeals and sibling squabbles.
Above: Anais getting her first piano lesson from Mike... and a couple of sketches I did while enjoying the quiet:)

Last weekend in August . . .

Last weekend in August is behind us. Me and my little family spent it at a cottage (Prince Edward County). Girls swam and kayaked in lake Ontario. I read O.Henry and fed fire (once, I fed it apples wrapped in tin foil and fire made apple sauce of it all:). Mike went fishing and caught part of our dinner (the first night). Summers are made of such fun. Short Canadian summers.

Mmmm . . .

A reminder... just in case you forgot to go outside today... were stuck in-front of the the computer all day... worshiping at the altar of air-conditioned walls - SUMMER IS AWESOME!
And if I didn't have so much work to do, I'd be lazying around my backyard with a book and an alcoholic beverage... and... well, maybe even family:)

green memories . . .

In case you didn't believe me... here are some pictures I took of the flowers in Paris (except the one of me... taken by my friend Abby). I've been stuck inside for a couple of days now trying to avoid the heat wave... worrying a bit about my little garden wilting under the scorching sun.

finally . . . summer . . .

Couldn't resist taking pictures of my girls looking all summery and happy (on the way home from friend's birthday party). So glad to see summer dresses and green again.
