love in a cup...

I've been a huge fan of Yoshitomo Nara for years. He is the master of angry-cute and cuddly. I adore his wall art, puppy sculptures and everything... everything he does!

So it's not surprising that I had to have this darling pup in a cup:)

Next stop... the 'lonsome puppy' book...

Too bad I couldn't get the light and the camera to cooperate... I have much to learn  about photography.

Here's a bit of silliness... to lighten the mood after the post below. Although, Domo does belong to the 'stuff' category and isn't handmade or vintage - he's a keeper! Girls love them to bits (daddy Domo and baby Domo). I tell them that they'll turn into Domos if they watch too much TV - because that's how Domo got his shape:)

Oh, Santa....

It's good to be back:) Hope you all had a cheerful and toasty holiday. I had a great one! Hosted a little Christmas party and then spent a few days out of town with my husbands family. Missed working... a little:) 

I must have been good this year....'cause Santa (Mike) brought me exactly what I wanted - a super duper fantastic camera (plus a whole bunch of other wonderful things)! I'm still learning what it is capable of. Can't wait to go 'trigger happy' with it:)

Have you ever got something for you kids that you just love way too much to let them play with it. Ok... Ok... Maybe it's just me. I got these vintage japanese vocabulary blocks (here) , and like a kid, I have trouble sharing. I find it hilarious that the clown has a cigarette:) A sign that they must be from the 60th. Plus, I think the girl with the coffee is me:)

Anyway... the clock says 12:15... time to put the coffee down and get to work:)

cheburashka...

While in Odessa, under pretense that I have kids and they like toys, I've visited every toy store I could find. In most places they still sell the plush versions of the cartoon characters from my childhood. It brought a lot of sense to my weird taste in plush. Cheburashka was one of my favorite characters when I was a kid. He was a misfit toy that didn't know who he was in the beginning, but found himself with the help of friends. I couldn't resist buying him. Turned out - the only thing I bought for myself on the trip. My girls think he's weird. Weird is good:)

Meet Lolee! Lolee is the kind of girl that could crash your tea party anytime! Do you like her? Well... not like she cares. She knows she's adorable.

If I had any kind of time worth speaking of, I would make Lolee into a real doll. I feel like the fairy from Pinokio all of a sudden. Well, off to real work with me...

A few years ago, I made this pleather toy (Almando) for my friends Al & Amanda as a wedding present (with me you hardly ever get crystal, ha ha:). Time has passed, they had a baby and these are the pictures they've sent me of the little dude with Almando. Looks like they are going to be friends:)
